WEST (Willis), Shirley: Having achieved her 96’th birthday on February 23, and telling her children: “Don’t be sad, I have had a good life,” Shirley passed away peacefully on Good Friday, March 30, 2018. Cherished wife (72 years) of Lawrence West who pre-deceased her in 2016. Dear mother to Wanda West of Quebec City, PQ, and Terry West (Mark Defend) of London, Ontario. Survived by a sister, Mildred Stephan and several nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her parents and brothers, Sherwyn, Bud, and Willard. Shirley was born in 1922 in Bengough, Saskatchewan, and after a teaching career married Lawrence. They farmed near Bengough until 1974, and retired to Kelowna where they lived for more than 40 years. The family extends its gratitude to the staff of Village at Mill Creek (Kalamalka) in Kelowna, We Care staff in Kelowna, and Dr. Chris Outram for the fine and compassionate care they provided.
