Val Hanson (nee Cookson) passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Predeceased by her husband Jim in 2011. Survived by her children Paddy, Chris, Murray and David, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mom was born and raised in Kelowna. Throughout mom’s life she had a love for horses. With a twinkle in her eye, she enjoyed reminiscing about riding her horse all around Kelowna and to Vernon.
Mom had a spectacular flower garden, and she enjoyed exploring nurseries for the latest new varieties of plants.
Mom was always busy helping dad run their orchard in East Kelowna, while raising their family. Mom was an incredible cook and many meals were cherished by the family.
Mom/Orchard Nana/Nana was much loved and will be dearly missed.
We would like to thank Dr. Paul Hart for his years of excellent care for both mom and dad.
We also would like to thank the incredible staff at David Lloyd Jones for their amazing care, compassion and kindness they continually provided for mom.
As per mom’s request, there will not be a funeral. Mom wanted everyone to remember her and dad for all the good times they shared.
