Bill Gibson, 73, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 2, 2021 after a short but courageous battle with T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia, an extremely rare form of the disease with no cure. Karen, his loving wife of 39 years, and his children David (Tashauna Knutson) and Amy (Jeff Sexton) were by his side.
Born to Walter and Marion in Brandon, Manitoba, Bill was predeceased by both parents, his sister Maureen, and his niece Meredith. He was well-loved by his extended family, including brother-in-law Don Somers (Georgie Partridge), nephew Jon (Eileen), niece Marnee, grandnephews Walter and George Somers, step-grandsons Marcus and Noah Knutson, and many close friends that are considered family.
A resident of Kelowna since 1992, Bill was an active member of the Ogopogo and Morningside Rotary Clubs and the Kelowna Golf and Country Club. He also loved curling, spending his last week watching the Scotties. Before he retired, Bill was very proud of his C.A. designation and worked as a Financial Advisor with RBC Dominion Securities. Always up for a laugh, a round of golf, or a drink together, Bill had a way of making a positive impact on those who knew him and will be deeply missed by many.
Due to COVID restrictions, a service has not been planned at this time, as Bill would want us to have a large celebration in the vein of his “Sueee Enterprise” days!
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Paul Hart, Dr. Christine Simpson, and the staff of ward 5B at the Kelowna General Hospital, particularly Lydia, Anissa, and Fay, for their kindness, care, and support throughout Bill’s illness and in the last few days.
