

Win passed away peacefully, at the age of 98. She is now in a beautiful garden filled with pink flowers with her husband Harold and sons Doug and Bruce, two sons-in-law Doug Stapleton and Tom Beckstead. She also joins her mother Eva, sister Ethel and granddaughters Shannon Beckstead and Vanessa Vecchio.
Win was proud of her 6 children, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She will be forever remembered by her 4 surviving children, Greg Langham (Ginny) and daughter Logan Kelly Langham (Zane Oak), Kathy Beckstead and her son Hugh Beckstead (Carly) and their children Brayden, Autumn and Nolan. Diane Kelly (Rick), Anita Stapleton and her son Cliff Grindle (Nyree) and their children Amelia, Alisha Blasco (Seth) along with their children Briar and Sheperd. Doug Stapleton’s daughters Tami and Lindsey will forever miss their special grandma. Also remembering their grandma are Leticia Vecchio (Shawn) and their children Nico, Luca and Arlo, as well as Marlisa Vecchio (Corey) and baby Ava.
Win was born in Winnipeg and over the years moved across the country, eventually to Vancouver. She met a smartly dressed navy man (Harold) and on Oct. 26, 1946 they were married. They moved to various locations in Vancouver as well as Vancouver Island. After the 6 baby boomer children were born, a decision was made to move to Kelowna in 1962.
Win worked in the office at the Kelowna Woolworths store (2 locations), Macleods (Capri Mall). Win was a member of the First United Church (Bernard Avenue) and volunteered at the thrift store and many other fundraising events. Win was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.
Win was known for composing creative poems for events in her life and her family’s. She also created many short poems of thanks and well wishes to many. Her family produced a book of her poems called Winsome Words.
Win took great pride in making bookmarks, using special and themed cancelled stamps then adding a tassel for the finished product. She kept a record of each one she sold. She was an avid reader and kept records of every book she read. Win was remarkable in her spelling and math skills. She gave her children all her love, wisdom, knowledge and lots of laughter.
A service will take place in the spring of 2024.
