

Dora was born November 13, 1926 in Wills Point, Texas to parents Samuel Park and Goldie Lou (Cosby) Whitaker and entered into eternal rest on January 25, 2017 at the age of 90. She was a great mother and teacher. She loved God, all her children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dora was a fun Grandmother. She was Pentecostal by faith and was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Gun Barrel City. She volunteered as a teacher, worship leader, children’s activity director, and with the Ladies Bible study. Dora loved traveling with her husband to different churches and to the mountains. She liked sewing, crafting and was an amazing cook. Dora worked in several fields in her life. She was a seamstress and a motivational speaker, top representative in sales with Avon and Walmart. Dora was a loving, caring lady that will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.
Dora is preceded in death by her parents, husband Granvel Eron Thomas Sr., sisters: Jean Hilton, Oleta Triechler, and Ruth Gillentine, brother Earl Whitaker.
She is survived by son Granvel E. Thomas Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, daughter Elaine Long and Marion of Kemp, son Wallace R. Thomas and Kimberly of McKinney, daughter Darla R. Martsolf and Randy of Oakridge, Oregon, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: to many to mention by name, over 50 total, brother Doyle Whitaker and Gale of Paris, Texas, numerous other relatives, and many friends.
