Mitzi and I became fast friends because of our shared love of the boxer breed. When she and Butch took Mattie Rodd into their hearts and home the bond we shared was unshakable. My late husband Herb and I formed a friendship that, although at a long distance most of the time. always picked up right where we left off.

Sitting ring side at the dog show you would find Mitzi sipping on a Dr Pepper. She was always warm and approachable but don't even attempt to talk to her when her dog was in the ring.

I hope her and Herb will save me a seat ringside for the glorious dog show that will one day come to be. God speed my friend.

I will always remember my Aunt Mitzi as a person who was humble with wisdom and shameless with wisecracks. I think/hope I inherited some of her traits, especially her intuition. I always admired her cheerful nature, and I came to respect it deeply as I got older and realized how much pain she endured. That is some comfort to me, that she is finally free of her physical pains. Our material world, especially us family, weren't ready to part with her, and we will grieve hard. She has moved to the metaphysical phase of her life - and whatever that is, I feel sure she will meet it with a mischievous smile.
