

Virgil was born on September 12, 1932 in Fabens, Texas to parents Albert Holdman and Ruby Laney Holdman and entered into eternal rest on January 27, 2015 at the age of 82. Virgil was known to his family and friends as “Big Virg”. He was an excellent husband, father and grandfather. Big Virg loved his family and his great-grandson was his life. He loved eating enchiladas and drinking coffee. Big Virg enjoyed being on his deer lease hunting; loved playing pool and poker. He served in the National Guard for 13 years. Big Virg started working in the newspaper business at the young age of 12. He worked as a printer for Pecos Enterprise, Abilene Reporter News and retired from The Dallas Morning News. Big Virg served on the City Council in W. Tawakoni for 2 years, was a Master Mason at Lone Oak Lodge, Quinlan ISD School board for 13 years and volunteer for Desdemona Fire Dept. He was a Baptist by faith. Big Virg was a loving caring man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Big Virg was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Holdman.
He is survived by the love of his life for 63 years; Jo Holdman of Tool, son Virgil Holdman Jr. of Luckenbach, son Dale Holdman and life partner Richard McDonough of Dallas, grandson Kristopher Holdman and wife Sarah of Rockwall, grandson Virgil (Trey) Holdman III of Stephenville, granddaughter Taylor Bouchier of North Carolina, great-grandson Tanner Holdman, brother Albert Holdman of Sundown, Texas, Larry Holdman of Sundown, Texas, sister Ethel Green and husband Paul of Sundown, Texas, three very special nephews; Murle, Terry and Davis, a host of extended family and friends.
