The world has lost an inspiration and one of the kindest and most loving woman. She always had a happy word for everyone and always went out of her way to be encouraging in any situation. She was my Aunt and at times my babysitter. She was fun loving and mostly looked the other way no matter what kind of horseplay us kids were into. One of my most favorite things was that she always let us build a fort out of the couch cushions in her living room on Nassau. And let us race /crawl around under the formal dining room table. I don’t remember her ever yelling at us ...although I am sure we deserved it more than once. If we fell down, got a scrape or a bruise she always hugged us and found a way to make us feel better. She and Uncle Dan threw the best parties. The whole block of neighbors used to be there and her food was great! I have nothing but tons of fond memories of Dear Aunt Doris. I expect She and my Mom (her sister in law, Edith) are now enjoying the first of many heavenly Manhattans and will be watching over us forever.
Love,
Lynn
