Dear "Hoffman Family",

I am sending you my deepest sympathies in the tragic loss of your sister, mother, friend, etc... I share very fond memories of Gretchen growing up as family friends and neighbors. Gretchen was always so fun loving and had such great spirit; which I'm sure carried throughout her life. My heart goes out to each and every one of you! I know how she will truly be missed! May the beautiful memories of her keep you strong until you meet again in eternal peace.

God Bless,
Nancy Suda (Banas)

Ellen, Susan, Paul and Nancy,

I just heard about Gretchen's passing. My heart breaks for you and her family. As a childhood friend, I haven't met Gretchen's husband, kids or grandchildren, but I can tell from the memories written here that she remained the caring, thoughtful and fun-loving girl she was when we were young and that she was devoted and in love with her family. I know you all will miss her forever.

I am devastated that I didn't attend her services and don't have any contact information for you all. Please email me when you can (vvance3@gmail.com).

Love to all,
Val

Gretchen was the daughter of my Godmother and my Father's best friend and we have been friends since birth. As we grew up we reconnected time and time again. From the Yacht Club to our parents Parties, Holidays the Hoffmans were a part of our Family and their's too. We knew their cousins and it was a big childhood with lots of kids and of fun and sun. Gretchen was a client of my Dad when she was in the medical business and I shot photography for her catalogues that my Dad designed. My Father loved her and thought she was as sharp as a whip. We saw each other at the Iron Works a few years ago. I now live in Switzerland and seeing this sad news on Facebook was a shock. My wife went through a rough time and is doing well but not are so lucky.
My condolences go out to her children and loved ones. I am sorry I couldn't be there to say goodbye. Ellen, Susan, Paul and Nancy are special childhood friends and I share their pain. When I close my eyes I can hear Ron, Rita and Gretchen's voices.
RIP Gretchen.

To all who knew and loved Gretchen especially her children that she held so dear. Gretchen was in my life for 40 years as best friend to my sister Susan Hasan and to our family. She was a wonderful person, great friend and a caring person. Losing our Gretchen will last forever, but while she was here the world was a better place. Rest my second sister as we will be together again. Live healthy with your Mom and Dad for they are truly blessed to have you home with them again. Love you forever Cheryl Yuhas Buck..

I am so saddened to hear of Gretchen’s passing. Although our paths have not crossed often since high school, whenever we did bump into each other she was always smiling, laughing and living life to the fullest. I will always remember her for her smile and beautiful soul. My thoughts are with her children and family, cherish your memories and may she Rest In Peace.

I am terribly sorry for the loss of your mom. The day I met her, I rolled into the living room with my roller blades on to see new little baby Mitch! She laughed her butt off for years about it. From that day on I met one amazing family! Your mom taught me how to give to overs and put others first. I am so thankful that Gretchen was a part of my life because she shaped who I was as an adult! She will be sadly missed by many.

Larry and I are saddened by your loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with Jack, your children, and your entire family (which for you includes also a huge group of loyal friends) at this terrible time. The world is a little bit darker without you in it to shine your love and light on to all of us. Your smile and your laughter will be greatly missed. Every time I think of you, I will think of your warm welcoming hugs -- a greeting that told whoever you were with that they were the most important person to you at that moment, in that conversation, in that time spent together. It seems that there are just no words that could express what you mean to us or how we all feel at this time. So I guess I will just say that we love you.

We have made a donation to the Ronald McDonald House in your honor. Love always. The McPhail Family, Larry, Liz and Harley.

"King" Michael knows you have left this place called earth but he pointed to heaven and said "up there". Gretchen treated Michael with such dignity and respect all the years we knew her through the beach. When he visited Buffalo, she always made time for him. What a girl. Gabi, Casey and Mitch please know how much she meant, not just to Michael, but to all the Krija family. She always greeted me with the biggest hugs and smile a person could ask for. I know you are grieving and you will for quite awhile but I hope and pray that the words her friends and family are sending you will, in some way, give you comfort. She was truly loved by so many - that speaks volumes to just how special your Mom was. Heaven has a new beautiful angel to watch over you now. God be with you all. love Gail

My fondest and most cherished memory of Gretchen was when we worked together at Ormed. She was a delight to work with and always made sure that I would have a ride home after work. Although we parted ways after Ormed closed, I would often think of her with fond memories. I never had the pleasure of knowing her family, but they have my sincere condolences on her passing and knowing that she is no longer suffering. May she rest in peace.
