Karen K Wasieczko passed on May 28, 2026, at the age of 71 beloved daughter of the late Walter and Katherine (nee Klym) Wasieczko, dear sister of Kevin Wasieczko, sister in law of Dawn Calorico, loving aunt of Melissa (David), Amanda (Kirk), Tyler (Natalie) Wasieczko. Also survived by several cousins. Family and friends may call Tuesday June 2, 2026 from 4-7pm at the St. George Antionchian Orthodox Church 1073 Saunders Settlement Road (Rt. 31) Lewiston, NY. Funeral Services will be held at the church Wednesday June 3, 2026 at 10am. Flowers gratefully declined. Born and grew up in Tonawanda, NY. Karen dedicated her life to education and service. She taught English as a Second Language at both University of Kentucky and University at Buffalo, helping students from diverse backgrounds find confidence and success through language learning. In 1985, she returned to teaching Spanish in Restoff, New York, continuing her lifelong passion for languages and cultural education.
Beginning in 1988, Karen devoted more than twenty years to teaching ESL within the Buffalo Public Schools system at school 76 and Mackowski Early Childhood Center, where she touched countless lives with her patience, kindness, and dedication to her students. In addition to her teaching career, Karen also served as a librarian with the Erie County Public Library in the City of Tonawanda branch.
Karen found joy and friendship through the knitting group at the City of Tonawanda Public Library and was deeply involved in her faith and community service. She proudly served as past vice president of the Hellenic Orthodox Senior Citizens and was an active and devoted member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
Karen will be remembered for her generosity, intellect, warmth, and unwavering commitment to helping others. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, education, and faith that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
