Marilyn Moscato Gallivan

Entered into eternal rest June 21, 2025. Born to the late Rosario and Lorraine (Baar) Moscato, Marilyn honored the heritage of her Baar, Moscato, and Chimera families. She held in her heart her brother, Samuel, who predeceased her.

Marilyn married Robert Gallivan, Sr. and treasured the Gallivan and Herlihy families. They were blessed with three children, Kathleen (Anne Pfohl), Laurie (Steve Joyce), and Robert (Lynda Cameron). She was the proud and loving grandmother of R. Cameron Patrick Gallivan (Ariel Robles) and Chloe Elizabeth Gallivan (Alan Neesen), dear “GG” to Stephen (Shannon), Katherine (Euan), and Meghan Joyce, and beloved “GGG” to Callum Joyce.

From 1968 – 1972 Marilyn was active in the movement to end the Vietnam war and was a counselor for veterans returning from Vietnam. She retired from Erie Community College in 1997 where she was devoted to supporting students through her work in the financial aid and registrar offices and as the Student Life Advisor. Throughout her life she volunteered for many community organizations including the WNY Peace Center, Lake Erie Beach Park Advisory Committee, Evans Lions Club, Concordia Cemetery, Marine Drive Resident Council, and as a facilitator for Open Buffalo.

Those who wish to honor Marilyn can visit the Dengler Roberts Perna Funeral Home, 3070 Delaware Avenue in Kenmore, on Tuesday, July 1st from 3 - 7 pm. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd at 10:30 am at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cheektowaga starting at the Pine Ridge entrance.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Marilyn’s favorite charities, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (www.bpo.org), Wings Flights of Hope (www.wingsflight.org)or the Buffalo Naval Park (www.buffalonavalpark.org). Marilyn was a lifelong dog lover and contributed annually to the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter (www.friendsofcbas.org). She was heartbroken when Buffalo Police officer Craig Lehner died and also made a donation every year to honor him and his dog, Shield (https://buffalopal.com/lieutenant-craig-lehner-scholarship-fund).
