Dear Daly Family:
I was so sorry to hear about your mom's [passing .  She was a dear friend of mine in high school (as was Ann).  I looked for her at our last Holy Angels reunion but she wasn't there and no one had any updated information .  Then I headed back to Ohio and never got around to it.  She was a great lady with an awesome sense of humor and we will miss her. I hope the years had been good to her.  I see she had a great family complete with grandchildren. Please know you will all be in my prayers .

Mary lit up whatever room she was in!  She was a bright, kind, and cheerful soul, and one just delighted in being in her presence. She was like a radiant star when she was around, and she had a sense of humor that was second to none! I idolized her growing up, and although I called her “cousin”, I saw her as the big sister that I always wished I’d had! I looked up to her—when I was 11, she was already a teenager (which was a really big deal to me at the time), and I just thought she was so cool!  I recall her doing my hair one time in a teenage-style, and I felt so honored!  I remember first meeting the family in the early 60’s—my mother and Joe McIndoo (senior) grew up together, with my mother often tagging along whenever Elmer took Joe to Wasaga Beach, as I learned from the stories my mother told.  When the family moved back to WNY after a spell in Ohio, our families met up for the first time in Cedar Bay, Ont., and I remember thinking, “What a fun bunch they are!”  Mary always made me laugh, and it was even more fun when she and Ann were together, as Ann played the straight man to Mary’s lead. They were hilarious, and I so enjoyed their company! In later years, I was grateful for the kind and caring support Mary gave me when my mom (MER, who just adored Mary) died. Whenever I came to town after that, we’d have lunch and talk, and I will never forget the memories of that time together. Sending my condolences to her siblings, Tom, Joe, John, and Ann, for their loss, as well as to her daughter Meghan (whose acquaintance I made recently through FB) and her siblings, and to Tim, and to  all of the other family and friends who loved her. I wish I could be there with you at the memorial service to say a final good-bye to Mary. She will live on in my heart, and I will cherish her memory always.

I worked with Mary for many years in Buffalo’s hearing impaired program and enjoyed every day. She made it so much fun.  I missed her after her retirement and am sorry she didn’t have more time.  She definitely deserved it.
