Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for this loss. I was Michael’s Team Leader in Afghanistan. I believe he was probably our youngest soldier on the team. Regardless, he was our brother. Always positive, always motivated, with an infectious smile that made you know everything was going to be alright. There is nothing I can say that will soften this loss but I will say that the time I spent with him in Afghanistan I came to know a man that was courageous and self-sacrificing. He was willing to do whatever was needed to get the mission done without question. He was reliable and I am proud to have work with him. He was a great team member, a great soldier, and a great American. May he rest with the Lord.
