Richard James Bartlett lived a life defined by service, generosity, family, and love. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a man whose wisdom, quiet humor, and generous spirit touched the lives of those around him.
Richard proudly served four years in the United States Army before building much of his career with U.S. Customs, from which he eventually retired.
Retirement brought Richard the opportunity to enjoy life alongside his beloved wife, Mary June Bartlett, with whom he shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they traveled and made memories, enjoying the adventures and experiences that life had to offer.
Never one to stop learning, Richard discovered a love of painting during his retirement. He also treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, teaching them, sharing his knowledge, and showing them everything he knew. He had a gift for passing along not only what he had learned throughout his life, but also the values, skills, and wisdom that would stay with his family for years to come.
Richard was the epitome of a dad and grandpa. Generous in every sense of the word, he gave freely of his time, his knowledge, and his heart. He was loving and thoughtful, diplomatic in his approach, and blessed with a keen, dry sense of humor that could bring a smile when it was needed most. His presence was a steady source of guidance, comfort, and love, and his family was one of his greatest joys.
Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary June Bartlett; his mother, Loretta Shearer; his father, Vernon Bartlett; his sisters, Margaret Bartlett and Doris Bartlett; and his brother, Vernon Bartlett.
He leaves behind his loving children, sons Vernon Bartlett and Keith Bartlett, and daughters Lori Schultz and Mary (Richard) Rosen; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through each of them, in the lessons he taught, the memories they shared, and the love he gave so generously.
Richard’s life was a testament to the importance of family, service, kindness, and sharing what you know with the people you love. Though he will be deeply missed, the things he taught, the laughter he brought, and the love he gave will remain with his family for generations to come.
He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, a wonderful father, an extraordinary grandpa, and a man who gave so much of himself to others.
May Richard rest peacefully, reunited with his beloved Mary and the family members who preceded him. His love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
