Robert Genco was a lifetime friend. I go way back to 1965. They didn't come any finer. He will be sorely missed by hundreds and hundreds of people. May "Uncle Bob" rest in peace. XO

Whenever I was in Bob's company, I felt I was sitting at the feet of the Master- indeed Bob was the grandfather of periodontal-systemic medicine and I learned so much from him and his work. Given his accomplishments, and international notoriety, he was an extremely humble scientist. And, what a gifted communicator and consummate encourager. We lost a giant, and I will miss him.

I only met Dr. Genco once (at the Sandra Genco Nursing Award ceremony at Roswell Park CCC), but that was enough to instantly realize what a kind, warm-hearted man he was. I'd written a tribute to my favorite Roswell nurse, who received the Sandra Genco award, and Dr. Genco went out of his way to thank me at the award ceremony. He was so kind and congenial, and he made me feel like a special person, when instead, it was he and his family who made this award, honoring the kindness and service of others, possible. I am sorry for the loss of this man, for his family and the entire WNY community.

Although Dr. Genco was among the great leaders in his field, he was always, warm, kind and welcoming and made time to chat. He was a great listener, had a wonderful sense of humor and was always encouraging and supportive. He will be sadly missed.

Bob and I were pretty close in the American Academy of Periodontology as we both became active around the same time. He was without peer as a leader, teacher, mentor, scientist and human being. He will be missed by all.

Despite all of the memories from scientific and professional meetings and events, they pale in comparison to Bob's intensely loyal friendship and support and his great love of family. All who were touched by Bob's kind, generous, optimistic spirit have a gift worth cherishing forever. There will always be a special place in my heart for the 4th of July holidays on the north shore of Lake Erie. Bob knew that I was a newcomer to upstate NY and living alone, so he invited me to drive over from Rochester to spend moments on the beach, on the water, feasting on great food with the family and sharing a great glass of wine. Priceless. Cheers, Bob! Thank you for a life well lived.

To Debbie and family,
My heart goes out to you, it is so hard to lose your Dad. He was an adorable amazing man, and my fondest memory is our three Dads (Bob, Marvin and Marvin) took us to the Happy Pappy dance at Skidmore, and your dad made us a delicious pasta dinner at 2am in the morning! What fun we had! My family and I are thinking of you and holding you and yours in our prayers while you grieve the passing of your beloved father.
Much Love,
Laura, Bob, Sarah and Ethan

I have a fond memory of having lunch with Bob & Frances in Barcelona where they welcomed my Dad who was traveling with me. Dad and Bob were contemporaries who had similar memories of growing up in an Italian family.

Bob was a consummate professional who was kind to everyone. He and Frances often took the time to support me in my dental career.

My sincere condolences to Frances (my dear friend) and the extended family. He loved family life and often spoke about his grandchildren & great grandchildren with love and praise. He was very proud of all their accomplishments.
