In times passing when a friend is in sorrow,  when one they love has journeyed on, I always go back to a poem that my Great grandmother had on her writing table at her home.   I did not understand what it meant till that day I lost her and the full circle came around.
Kevin and family, you have given so much and the love that you share with Christian New Creation made me remember this poem.
Robert has sailed on and his memoires will always stir fondness in the years to come.   With love and understanding the Staff of Isaiah and Providence Houses.

The Little Ship
I stood watching as the little ship sailed out to sea.

The setting sun tinted his white sails with a golden light, and as he disappeared from sight, a voice at my side whispered, “He is gone.”

But the sea was a narrow one.

On the farther shore a little band of friends had gathered to watch and wait in happy expectation.

Suddenly they caught sight of the tiny sail and, at the very moment when my companion had whispered, “He is gone” a glad shout went up in joyous welcome,

“Here he comes!”

The Rungs and the O'Connors lived behind each other for many of Bob's early years. "Bobby" was so much fun to be around. We used to build snow forts and skate on the rink his Dad made flooding part of the back yard.  We remember him fondly and send our condolences to his siblings. 

Our sympathies and prayers to Karen and David Schumacher and their family! May Robert rest in eternal peace!

Bob was a quiet man. Not a big talker. He loved his nieces and nephews who variously described him as a "gentle soul" and "a sweet guy." He will be missed.

Bob had a 20-year career as a Red Cross volunteer. Religiously working as a volunteer three days a week, he walked or bussed the long trip down Delaware Avenue to headquarters. Bob had a degree in accounting from Canisius College and put those skills to work at the Red Cross. He had a sense of duty and service that is rare in this day and age.

Bob loved his beach house at Windmill Point, Ridgeway, Ontario, Canada. He looked forward to every trip there.

He lived his life authentically always doing his best even in the face of grave illness - he was not a stranger to suffering. I will remember him for his courage, fortitude and his no-nonsense approach to life. 

He had a wry sense of humor - you'd always have to listen carefully to "get it!"
