Dear Family,
Please accept my sincere sympathy.
Looking at the photos brought back many memories and laughs. Tom set me up with my first "new "car, a Ford, I was thrilled!
Tom and B.A. we're one of a kind. So happy we got to share some memorable times.

Pat and I can’t think of Tom as “gone”……. because Tom will always be “with us”.

We can’t think of Tom and BA without smiling and laughing at our memories.
We met Tom and BA through their friendship with Bob and Anne Eby, our neighbours in Niagara-on-the-Lake Ontario. The common connection with Tom was through running. Our running Club was “Track Niagara” in Canada and Tom’s was the “CHECKERS” running club in Buffalo.
While running races, on both sides of the border, was a good “in-common” reason for getting together, the other common reason was the mutual love of beer and good company shared by Checkers and Track Niagara. The laughter (and the beer) usually lasted longer than the races on both sides of the border.

We’ll always remember the fabulous dinners prepared by BA in her enormous kitchen and in her even larger , it seems, industrial stove. The “turducken” Thanksgiving meal prepared for Bob and Anne Eby, Dobes and Gaye Hardibe, Pat and I, will remain a highlight of our friendship. We could probably remember them better If it weren’t for the TOM martinis ( recipe: a bottle of gin, ¼ ounce of vermouth … or maybe none… and a few hunks of ice,) .. serves 3.

Tom,…... If you and BA are listening, you’ll know that your laughter, your sense of humour, the good times we had with you, and your friendship,… will always be “with us”.

To the Fanning Family,

So many wonderful memories -- Checkers -- running races and going to the bar, annual trips to Falmouth to run the road race and then head up to North Truro for a week on Cape Cod where we'd catch "The Fiddler" for lots of sets, New Year's Eve parties with BA roasting a pig, Checkers' Christmas parties at the Fanning house, Washington, DC where Tom and Rudy would run the Marine Corps Marathon and the rest of us would ride our bikes and catch you at various locations on the course, Ellicottville - living next door and having our annual Fall Festival Parties or to gather for drinks in your basement bar. It has been a lot of years but the memories are seared into our brains. Tom, may you rest in peace and join BA in a wonderful after-life. Our deepest condolences to Liz, Trip and family.

Dearest Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. The Jennings and Warthling Families have been intertwined for years even before I was born, and I’m 72! The Memories are Wonderful and too many to list. One of my favorites...our (my first) trip to Europe with BA & Tom, Sr. Geraldine & many more of us. Many laughs, wine, good food and just Fun Together.
Loved looking at the photos, how blessed all of us are to have had such great people in our lives. Sincerely, Barb Kane

Good bye to Uncle Tom a generous, easy-going man. I hadn't seen him for years when I visited him and Liz Fanning with my parents and Krista Van Wagner about a year ago. Like my parents, he was much older. And he was stone deaf. As we talked and caught up, he sat happily not concerned about being left out of the loop. Just happy to see and feel the congeniality.

I picked up one of the well-worn dry erase boards and began asking questions. And he'd answer in his booming voice.

"How are you getting by?" I'd write.
"Well Liz ..." and he'd proudly share how his daughter Liz was taking care of him. "And Trip and the kids were here recently." He added.

"How is life?" I'd write.
"Oh good. I've had a good life," he boomed. He settled into his thoughts and a big smile came on his face. I left him alone for a minute.

It was a wintry day and the last time I saw him. Surrounded by family in his home of 50-odd years, happy.

My Uncle Tom used to lie on the living room floor and pretend he was dead. We’d climb up on his giant chest and pummel the great cavernous terrain with our tiny fists. It took about half an eternity, but then he’d laugh or just open an eye, one twinkling Irish eye, and we’d scream to the rafters!

I mainly remember we loved to climb on him.

Such a heavy loss. So sorry for all of you.
