

Addie ‘Marie’ Purdy Hasting, age 83, of Kennesaw, GA, passed away on December 21, 2020. She was born on January 24, 1937 in Flat Rock, AL, to her late parents; James Lealus and Beulah Bell Davis Purdy. Mrs. Hasting retired from Wellstar Kennestone Hospital after 22 years as a Nursing Assistant. She was a natural caregiver and often said that she missed her job. She was a faithful Church of God member and would gladly tell you she loved her Lord. Mrs. Hasting loved cooking and being a homemaker. Most importantly, Marie loved her family immensely and was a loving wife, mother, grandmamma, sister and friend loved by all that knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, her heart couldn’t bear to be without him and she passed away nine short days after she lost him. Also preceded in death by brothers, Clebert, Oakley, Homer and Ray Purdy; sisters, Winnis Purdy West and Fay Purdy Peters.
Mrs. Hasting is survived by her daughter, Karen and her husband Ken Buchanan of Powder Springs, GA; son; Tim and his wife Kimi Hasting of Dallas, GA; grandchildren; Markus (Lacey) Shirley, Erin (Stephan) Kotowski, Haley (Methus) Weldon, Elizabeth (Dillian) Moore, Emily (Stone) Richardson; great-grandchildren, Lila Rose Shirley, Emmaline Kotowski, Ben Kotowski, Caroline Moore, Ivy Moore; brother, Willard and his wife Kathy Purdy of Eufaula, AL; several nieces, nephews and special friends also survive her.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Hasting will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at Pine Ridge Memorial Park following the funeral service with the following serving as pallbearers: Methus Weldon, Dillian Moore, Stone Richardson, Markus Shirley, Tim Hasting and Ken Buchanan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
The Funeral service will be livestreamed on Winkenhofer Pine Ridge’s Facebook Page for those that cannot attend.
The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who will not be able to attend the service in person due to the states Covid-19 restrictions (no more than 50 people inside the funeral home at one time). If attending the visitation or service, the staff of Winkenhofer Funeral Home highly recommends that a face mask be worn and that social distancing is practiced to help prevent the spreading of any possible illnesses and to help keep visitors, friends and family members of Mrs. Hasting safe.
