Alfred (Al) Michael Santacroce, age 95, of Woodstock, GA passed away at home on Tuesday, December 29th, 2020 with family at his bedside. Alfred was born in Jamaica, NY on June 27th, 1925 to parents Jessie Ferraro Santacroce and Michael William Santacroce. He was married to his beloved wife Josephine for over 65 years.
Alfred served in World War II in the US Army as part of the 773rd F.A.Bn (Artillery) from October of 1943 to December of 1945. He married Josephine Danowski in August of 1949 and worked as a Systems Engineer for Bell Labs, Research & Development Group of AT&T for 35 years in New York City, NY and Holmdel, NJ. He retired from there in February, 1987.
Alfred was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and was an avid bowler, both as a participant and an administrator. He participated in as well as managed many county and state bowling tournaments in New Jersey, where he lived from December, 1961 until August, 1987. He also served as the Monmouth County Bowling Association President during the 1980's.
He liked to perform charity work for the Catholic churches that he was a member of. Alfred was a member of the Holy Name Society of Incarnation Parish, in Queens Village, NY during the 50's and early 60's. He also helped manage the bingo games at St. Jerome's Catholic Church in West Long Branch, NJ during the 60's and 70's. Alfred also helped expand the St. Vincent DePaul Group at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Kennesaw during the 90's and 00's.
Alfred is survived by daughter Janet M. Santacroce of Annapolis, MD, sons, Steven E. Santacroce of Woodstock, GA, , John P. Santacroce of Cumming GA along with his wife Renee, Michael A. Santacroce of Kalispell, MT, sisters-in-law Marian Santacroce of East Marion, NY and Vickie Heaney of Greenport, NY. He had two grandchildren; Nicole Santacroce of Cumming, GA, and Alfred Santacroce of San Diego, CA. Alfred also had two great grandchildren; Savanna Santacroce and Sakura Santacroce, both of San Diego, CA.
Alfred was preceded in death by his wife Josephine Danowski Santacroce of Woodstock, GA, daughter Rose Marie Santacroce of Annapolis, MD, parents, Michael and Jessie Santacroce of Greenport, NY; brothers Vincent Santacroce and sister-in-law Ingeborg of Arlington, VA, Thomas Santacroce of East Marion, NY, sister Eleanor Skwara of Greenport, NY; and grandson Vincent Santacroce of Tujunga, CA.
A visitation for Alfred will be held on Tuesday January 5, 2020 6:30 PM until 8:00PM with a rosary at 7:45 PM at the Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, GA. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Kennesaw, with burial at Pine Ridge Memorial Park.
