Alton Jerome “Jerry” Cheek entered into rest on February 16, 2026. Jerry Cheek was married to Frances Cheek for 67 years.
Jerry was a man of faith and was a member of New Beginnings Methodist Church. He loved his family, history & fishing. He graduated from North Georgia College in the ROTC Program and entered the US Army as a Lieutenant where he earned a medal as a Parachutist before going to Fort Bragg where he earned his master wings. He left active service and eventually retired from the Army Reserves with the rank of Captain.
After leaving the service, he attended Georgia State University where he was among the first people earning an MBA. Jerry began his career at Lockheed-Martin then worked as MIS Director in Dalton, GA at Shaw Industries and Opelika, AL at Diversified Products, ending his career at Lockheed-Martin.
Jerry was loved by his family, friends, and co-workers for his devotion, sense of humor and ability to tell a story.
Family members include his wife: Frances Cheek; daughter: Ginger Hannah; son: Jeff Cheek; granddaughters: Caitlin Shelton (Grant) and Madi Hannah; great grandchildren: Emery Shelton, Adeline Shelton, Rylan Hannah; sisters Nancy Caltrider and Martha Benson; nieces and nephews; and, canine buddy: Patches.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Short Cheek and Ruth Maddox Cheek; and beloved son: John Cheek.
Visitation and service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 12:00 pm at New Beginnings Methodist Church, 2975 Cobb Parkway, NW, Kennesaw, GA 30152.
