Ann passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by family—and a cardinal outside her window.

Ann was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Johnson City, New York. She had a big, beautiful Polish family that shared good times filled with love, laughter, and, of course, delicious food—especially Ann’s favorite, her mother’s kolacz.

As a young woman, Ann entered the convent in St. Louis, where she went on to teach. After leaving the convent, she traveled to Europe. Upon returning, she met and married Dan, her “one and only,” and welcomed Dan’s daughters, Danielle and Lisa, into her life.

During their marriage, Ann and Dan lived in many places and built an active social network through clubs and organizations, work, lifelong friends, new friends, and neighbors before eventually settling in the Atlanta area. They enjoyed traveling to the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, the Northeast, and especially Ireland, where they connected with their Irish family. In recent years, Ann loved taking road trips to visit family and friends—especially if there was a casino along the way.

Throughout the years, Ann had many beloved fur babies: Chassis, Star, Angel, George, Smudge, Ming, and Shadow. She and Dan hosted large birthday parties for their dogs, inviting neighborhood children and their families to celebrate. During the summers, Ann would pilot their conversion van on round trips from Atlanta to Chicago to bring her granddaughters home to spend a few weeks with them, always making sure to find a hotel with a pool and planning visits to water parks along the way.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel J. Cody; her parents, Joseph and Catherine Novobilski; her brothers, Don Sr., Tom Sr., and John (Irene); and her daughter, Lisa Cody.

She is survived by her daughter, Danielle (Bob) Detten; her granddaughters, Kate (Ryan) Cruz, Tayler Detten, and Tarynne Briggs; her great-grandsons, Lionel and Nolan Cruz; her sisters-in-law, Gloria and Carol Novobilski; and many beloved nieces and nephews: David, Don Jr., Paul, Lynn, Kathy, Tom Jr., MaryJo, Theresa, Matt, and Stacia.

Ann enjoyed eating out at restaurants, especially for breakfast—and could spend hours visiting, talking, and catching up with family and friends.

Ann had a wonderful sense of humor and a genuine laugh. She always made you feel loved, which made everyone love her even more.

Rest peacefully, beautiful lady. We all love you and miss you very much.
