Ann grew up in a rural North Florida Community where the extended family and friends gave a full measure of love and support. Ann graduated from Altha High School where she was a majorette and played the flute in the marching band. After High School, Ann furthered her education at Chipola College and earned her Nursing Degree from FSU School of Nursing. Her passion, and nurturing nature brought comfort to her patients. Ann’s love of nursing was something she desired to share with other young people and led her to become a Teacher for 30 years at Kennesaw State University in the Nursing Program. While following this passion, she still maintained ties with those who loved and supported her growing up.
Ann was not only a role model for her students and co-workers but a true mother in every way. She raised her children by example and imparted her wisdom to her children, Brett & Chad. Ann was also a faithful and loving wife to her husband of 54 years Marvin as well as a sister, aunt, and friend. Paramount to Ann was family, whether nuclear family or extended. She provided the best that the world had to offer for her family along with the one thing most important to her which was love.
Ann’s love for teaching never ceased. She was very influential, and played a vital role with her niece becoming a nurse. Her care as a nurse extended to family and friends along with her giving heart which was demonstrated every day of her life. Ann also had a passion for needlework and taught many of her nieces and neighbors. She also enjoyed traveling and made a point to bring goodies back so she could share a small portion of her experience with her extended family.
Ann was a woman of faith and had been a longtime member of Kennesaw United Methodist Church. Those who will cherish her memories are: husband – Marvin Crutchfield; sons – Brett and Chad; her siblings – two brothers and a sister; numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
Ann will be inurned at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga on February 1st which will be a family only event. In the spring her family will have a public celebration of life service for Ann at Kennesaw United Methodist as well as a service in her hometown of Altha, FL at the First Baptist Church.
