Ann S. Thompson, 88, of Kennesaw, GA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. The fourth of five children, Ann was the daughter of Bruce D. and Olive (nee Smith) Starr, Sr. of Hughesville, PA, and was born in her parents’ home on November 19, 1937. She graduated from Hughesville High School in 1955 and thereafter served with the FBI Health Service until 1958 under Director J. Edgar Hoover. Ann also worked for insurance companies, in retail sales, as an expediter, as an automobile dealerships service writer, and as a bank teller.
In her spare time, Ann was an active member of the Greenville Elks Lodge #858 Doe Lodge, where she served for over 10 years. She loved camping and vacationing at the beach with the family; visiting civil war battlefields from Vicksburg, MS to Gettysburg, PA; and touring museums, aquariums and zoos throughout the U.S., including Washington, DC. She also completed many of her personal bucket-list items, including flying in a helicopter, flying in a
hot-air balloon, flying in a glider, riding on a camel, riding on a Mississippi Riverboat, and whale watching outside Boston, MA. Above all else, Ann was an voracious reader of thousands of
authors and their novels. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much, and in her later years often commented that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities and accomplishments were what kept her going.
