Barbara Bellamy

December 19,1937 – May 31, 2026

Barbara H. Bellamy passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Tranquility of Kennesaw Mountain Hospice in Marietta, GA with her husband by her side.

She was born on December 19, 1937, in Troy, NC to the late B.C. and Helen Horton. Barbara was a woman of faith and was a member of the Community Church of Pawleys Island, SC. She attended Harding High School in Charlotte, NC and graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in Mathematics. She then went to work for the Social Security Administration where she managed the social security office in Georgetown, SC for the last 20 years of her career.

Barbara loved her family and she built a house in Pawleys Island, SC for her mother, father, and herself and looked after her mother, who suffered from dementia, until she passed away. She also loved helping others and volunteered with different charitable organizations at Pawleys Island. She volunteered at the Pawleys Island Library because she loved books, and she kept the books for Linda Ketran who had several charitable businesses.

Barbara loved to travel and as soon as she saved enough money she traveled to Russia and that was the beginning of her travels. She and her husband Ray traveled to Europe and throughout the US upon retiring.

A graveside service will be held June 20, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Belin Methodist Church Cemetery in Murrells Inlet, SC.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their love, support, and prayers during Barbara’s difficult time with dementia.
