

Ben Roy Golden, age 83, of Marietta, GA, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 19, 1937 in Bainbridge, GA to his late parents, Leighton and Geneva Cantrell Golden. After obtaining degrees from Middle Tennessee State College and George Peabody College, Ben was awarded a Ph.D. in genetics from Brown University. He taught for 55 years, including 40 years at Kennesaw State University, finishing his work there as Professor Emeritus of Biology. Ben was a Christian and member of the Piedmont Road church of Christ. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Golden.
Dr. Golden is survived by his wife of 57 years, Noel Jean (Knight) Golden; sons Troy (Anna) Golden of Kennesaw, GA, Jason (Shelli) Golden of Franklin, TN, John (Misty) Golden of Marietta, GA; daughter, Sara (Ray) Harris of Kennesaw, GA, brother Bobby (Carol) Golden of Chattanooga, TN; sister, Linda Carlson of Ringgold, GA; grandchildren Andrew Golden, Leslie Golden, RJ Harris, Mary Grace Golden, Angela Golden, Sara Golden, Nicolas Golden, Trace Golden, Kaylee Golden and one additional on the way.
