Born in Iowa City, Iowa, and raised by her adoptive parents, Walter and Irene Snodgrass, Betty grew up in Cedar Rapids before moving to West Palm Beach, Florida, after graduating high school. It was there she worked and welcomed her son, beginning a journey of strength and devotion that would define her life. Three years later, she welcomed her daughter, expanding the love and joy in her family.
Betty later pursued higher education at the University of Georgia in Athens, earning her master's degree. She dedicated 25 years to teaching in Fulton County schools, inspiring generations of students with her passion for learning and commitment to education.
She eventually made her home in Kennesaw, Georgia, where she was cherished by family and friends. A woman of deep faith, Betty found comfort in reading her Bible and treasuring life’s quiet moments. She will be remembered for her fierce independence, boundless strength, and unwavering commitment to God, family, and close friends.
Betty loved working in her yard, going on long walks, and staying active through exercise. Though small in stature, she was mighty in spirit, embodying resilience and determination in everything she did. She had a big heart for those in need, offering kindness and support to anyone who crossed her path.
One of the greatest joys in Betty’s life was traveling with her son, sharing adventures and creating lasting memories together. She also cherished her shopping trips with her daughter—always a day filled with laughter, fun, and special moments that will be remembered forever. She shared a particularly close bond with her son-in-law, Bruce Ross, whom she lovingly credited for every meal cooked—whether he made it or not. Over the past year, Bruce accompanied Betty to all her doctor’s visits, turning each car ride into a special time filled with music and conversation.
Of all the relationships in her life, one of the most cherished was the bond she shared with her grandson, Jay Hern. Their connection was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments that will live on in his heart forever.
Betty also formed deep and meaningful friendships within her church community. Her faith and generosity connected her to many, including dear friends Anne and Teregi Coleman, Glen and Betty Sofgee, and Debbie Gaskil, among others. Additionally, she shared a special, lasting friendship with Suzie Ross, a bond that brought joy and companionship throughout the years.
Betty is survived by her son, Chuck Landergott; her daughter, Jennifer Ross, and her husband, Bruce Ross; her grandson, Jay Hern, and his wife, Laura Brumbelow Hern. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
