Beverly was born on July 25, 1925 in Jacksonville, Florida and grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a World War II bride. After the war she and her husband, Paul, relocated their growing family to Marietta, Georgia, which has been her home since. Together, they formed Brown-Grubb Realty and later ventured into commercial investment and owned and operated several motels in the southeast. Beverly represented “The Greatest Generation” to the fullest - committed to God, family, community, and country. Beverly was a committed follower of Christ and a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta for 35 years. She and her husband, Paul, shared a contagious zest and enthusiasm for life, which was evidenced by pursuing different interests, traveling, and spending time at their mountain cabin in Boone, North Carolina. Beverly loved her family, friends, and made every person she came in contact with feel valued and important. One of her great-grandchildren accurately described her as, “A spunky, ladylike, and gracious woman.”
She is survived by her children Richard Grubb (Mary), Janet Brown (James), Olive Childers (Jim), nine grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul James Grubb, and parents, Curtis Crawford Matthews and Odelite Matthews.
A visitation for Beverly will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Pine Ridge Memorial Park Kennesaw, Georgia 31052.
