Mr. Boyd Wayne Burkhart, age 76, of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away Friday, September 1, 2023. Boyd was born on June 2, 1947, in Cawood, Kentucky. Boyd was the son of Oscar and Eva Jones Burkhart.
Boyd was married to Jacqueline Thompson Burkhart in Frankfort, Kentucky. Boyd and Jacque shared a blessed marriage together for 39 years. He is survived by four children. Nicholas Boyd Burkhart (Cheryl), Brent Douglas Burkhart (Jane), Kevin Wayne Burkhart (Jessica), and Kimberly Geneer Ryan (Paul). Boyd was blessed with his grandchildren: Tamber Taylor, Nikki Burkhart, Ben Burkhart, Mollie Ryan, Riley Ryan, Boyd Blanton Burkhart, and Reagan Burkhart. He also has four great grandchildren, Charlotte, Emmett, Garrett, and Logan.
Boyd was a graduate of Hall High School in Harlan County, KY. He received his BA from Cumberland
College, in Williamsburg, KY. Boyd served his country in the United States Army. He served in Viet Nam and Germany. Boyd retired from BellSouth Telephone Company after 30 years of employment. He worked for the company in Kentucky and Georgia.
Boyd’s greatest joy was his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed collecting hats and classic model cars. Other hobbies included yard work, minor home repairs, and he spent hours at his work bench. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan. His number one dislike was mustard…” I don’t even like people who like mustard”.
Along with his parents, Boyd is preceded in death by his sister, Louise Graham, Lois Long, and his brother Martin Burkhart. He is survived by his sisters, Glenna Hack, Kaye Burkett, and Patty Miller, and his brother David Burkhart.
Boyd was a faithful member of Cannon United Methodist Church, Snellville, GA. He loved the Lord and shared God’s love in many ways to the community and world.
The committal service to honor the life of Boyd Burkhart will take place at two thirty o’ clock in the afternoon. The service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery, in Canton, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to The Alzheimer’s Association. Flowers can only be accepted at the Burkhart home address, due to
cemetery restrictions.
