Brendy Lea Scarbrough, beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, granddaughter, aunt, coach, mentor, Marine, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026, surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on February 25, 1993, Brendy brought love and strength into the lives of those around her from the very beginning. Those qualities remained at the heart of who she was throughout her life.
Brendy lived according to the words of the Great Commandment: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.” She did not merely speak those words; she lived them. Her faith was evident in her life of service, sacrifice, compassion, and steadfast willingness to give of herself for others.
That spirit of service was reflected in every part of Brendy’s life. She proudly served her country as a United States Marine, giving herself to something greater than herself. Whatever responsibility she accepted—and there were many—she approached it wholeheartedly. Brendy never did things halfway. When something mattered to her, she gave it everything she had.
Her servant’s heart shone especially brightly through softball. Brendy served as a coach for the Middle School softball team at Kennesaw Mountain High School and as a board member of the Kennesaw Mountain High School Softball Booster Club. Yet her greatest contribution to softball could not be measured in wins, losses, statistics, or trophies. It was seen in the young women whose lives she touched.
Within the Kennesaw Mountain softball program, Brendy became a mentor, encourager, coach, and trusted friend to many young ladies. Whenever she could, she also gave her time and energy to several youth travel softball teams. She understood that coaching involved far more than teaching a girl how to throw, hit, or field a ball. She knew she was helping shape young women, and she invested in them with patience, purpose, and love.
For countless girls, Brendy was someone who believed in them, encouraged them, challenged them, and reminded them of their worth. The lessons she taught will remain long after the games have ended and the fields have grown quiet.
Brendy also possessed a deep love for music and worship. She attended Westridge Church in Dallas, Georgia, where she had the privilege of serving on the Worship Team. Singing was more than something she enjoyed; it was one of the ways she expressed her love for her Savior. Her voice, her worship, and her presence will be deeply missed by her church family.
Above all, Brendy was a woman who loved deeply. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Joe Scarbrough, and a loving mother to her daughter, Aubree Scarbrough, both of Kennesaw, Georgia. Throughout Brendy’s battle with cancer, Joe remained faithfully by her side, loving her, supporting her, and walking with her every step of the way. Their devotion to one another was a beautiful testimony of commitment and faith.
Brendy is also survived by her parents, Mike and Lennette Parker of Kennesaw, Georgia; her siblings, Kelsey (Ashton) Strickland, Mallory (Braxton) Simpson, and Rhenn Parker; and her grandparents, Walter and Janis Parker of Acworth, Georgia.
She was a loving aunt to Grayson, Tucker, and Maddox Strickland, who will carry cherished memories of their “Aunt Indy” and the love she so freely gave them.
Brendy leaves behind a family who loved her beyond words, a church family who will miss her worship and fellowship, a softball community that will feel her absence, and a generation of young women whose lives are better because she chose to invest in them.
Her life cannot be measured simply by the years she lived. It is measured by the lives she touched, the people she encouraged, the young women she mentored, the country she served, the family she cherished, and the Savior she faithfully followed.
Through all she did, Brendy built a legacy of service—one that will continue far beyond her time here with us.
Although her family and friends grieve deeply, they do not grieve without hope. Brendy placed her faith in Jesus Christ, and the promise of Scripture brings comfort to all who loved her. As the Apostle Paul wrote:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
Brendy’s battle is over. Her suffering has ended. Her service here is complete.
Now, the woman who spent her life loving God and loving others has gone home to be with the One she loved most.
Though her voice is quiet here, her song continues—in the hearts of her husband and daughter, in the lives of her family, in the young women she mentored, in the church she served, and in everyone blessed to have known her.
She loved the Lord.
She loved others.
She served her country.
She served her family.
She served her community.
And she gave her whole heart.
Brendy Lea Scarbrough will be profoundly missed, deeply loved, and forever remembered.
