Age 71 of Marietta, Ga.
Carlton Lee Baker of Marietta, Georgia passed peacefully on 02-11-2023 surrounded by his family and loved ones. Carl Baker fought a long and hard battle against cancer and osteomyelitis.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henry Kershaw Baker and Alice Earline Baker of Marietta Ga. His brother’s William Baker, Dennis Baker, Wade Baker, his sister’s Earline Baker, Jean Baker Roan, and his nephew’s Rodney Baker, Wesley Baker, Wade Baker, and little Ray.
He is survived by his brother Louis Baker of Columbia, South Carolina, and his sister Janice Baker Wallace of Marietta, Georgia, and his wife Denise Lavoie.
He is survived by his 7 children, Wendy Byrd, Penelope Drake, Marci Jones, Breanna Baker, Shane Baker, Carlton Baker, and stepson Christopher Curtis. 8 grandchildren, Amber Phillips (Nick), Angel Byrd, Aliceson Byrd, Alton Byrd, Savanna Olson, Eva Olson, Maleigha Baker, Drake Jones, and Colton Jones, and one great granddaughter Harper Phillips.
A lifelong resident of Marietta Georgia, Carl attended Marietta Georgia Public Schools. A major player in the 1967 Marietta High School Blue Devils Triple A State Championship. After graduating from Marietta High School in 1969 Carl Baker was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Martin. Where he gained many friends with his teammates and comrades.
Always the life of the party with a distinguished smile and laughter everywhere he went. Personality personified.
Carl Baker was a well established and talented carpenter. He worked on many projects in Marietta, Georgia including the additions to the Roswell Street Baptist Church expansions. He took his carpentry skills to many projects across the state of Georgia and South Carolina.
Carl Baker dedicated his life to his children and their well being making many sacrifices for them. They all love and cherished him with his kindness, laughter and gag gifts.
Carl Baker will be missed by his family, friends and everyone that knew and loved him!
Rest in Peace and fly high across that mountain.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023, 2pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2205 Bascomb Carmel Rd, Woodstock, GA 30189
