Carol Payne, 83, of Kennesaw, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017. Funeral service will be held Friday, 11am at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with Rev. Bobby Therrell officiating. Burial will follow at Pineridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Payne to the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinsonsfoundation.org. Carol was a longtime member of Greers Chapel Baptist Church in Kennesaw. Carol was the Administrative Assistant to Rodger Hopkins of Kennesaw State University when the college was started. Mrs. Payne attended Kennesaw School and Acworth High School. Carol married her high school sweetheart, Richard. While in school, they met as budding actors in the one night performance of “Mammys Lil Wild Rose” presented at the Kennesaw School in 1949. Mrs. Payne provided a loving home for family and friends while enjoying her many passions when time was allotted. Those passions included, traveling to the mountains, the beach, lake, working with her flowers, animals of all kinds, shoe shopping, and even coaching softball. All these hobbies were secondary to the love she had for her family. Every holiday you would find Carol in kitchen preparing the meal for her large family. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Richard Payne, daughter Joan Payne Kirby, and her sisters Ruth Payne and Barbara Flynn. Survivors include her daughter Kathy Payne Hogan; son in laws, William Stephen Hogan and William P. Kirby, Jr.; grandchildren, Hollie Bradley, Bill Kirby, and Katie Hogan; great grandchildren, Clara Rose Bradley and Payne Bradley.

My condolences to my Mom's baby sister. She was always so sweet and happy. Such a Beautiful Aunt inside and out she will be missed. Now she is in Heaven with all the rest of family, Mother, Father, Brothers
and Sisters. RIP.

I have good memories of her and I know

I worked with Carol a long time at Kennesaw Jr College, now Kennesaw State University, she was my first supervisor when I came into Business Services, she was wonderful to work with, we had a lot of good times. I know you will miss her greatly.
