Carolyn Blanche Williamson Farnell November 26, 1933 - April 23, 2021 Acworth, GA -
Our beloved mother Carolyn Blanche Williamson Farnell died peacefully on April 23 surrounded by her family. She was born in Mobile, Alabama to John and Vivian Williamson. Carolyn was their third and youngest child. She was cherished and had a loving home. After graduating from Murphy High School she went on to study at the University of Alabama and Auburn University. She was a loyal Auburn fan. Carolyn met the love of her life on a blind date arranged by friends. She and Daniel R. Farnell Sr. were married for 64 years. They were sustained throughout their lives by their strong relationship and bond of love. Their four children and two grandchildren were the center and joy of their lives.
Carolyn was a kind and creative person, expressing herself through sewing and home decorating. She was welcoming to all and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Carolyn had a sly sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. She valued education and supported us in our college and career pursuits. She was a spiritual person of the Christian faith and an active member of Green Valley Baptist Church in Hoover, Alabama for many years.
After decades of laboring and loving as a stay-at-home mom, Carolyn found her life’s calling as a kindergarten teacher at Green Valley Baptist Church Kindergarten, where she taught for 24 years. She thrived in this important work and it filled her life with meaning and joy. She taught numerous children entrusted to her care to be kind to others, be a good friend, to say “I’m sorry”, and to forgive one another. Her colleagues at the kindergarten became her life-long friends. They shared many adventures and were there for each other in the difficult times.
Carolyn was pre-deceased by her son, Daniel R. Farnell, Jr. and her husband, Daniel R. Farnell Sr. She is survived by her brothers, John E. Williamson (Edna) of Mobile, Alabama; William R. Williamson of Atlanta, GA; her three daughters, Andrea F. Nicholas (Steve) and Cynthia C. Farnell (Dan), both of Atlanta; and Evelyn F. Jackson (Colin),and two grandchildren, Owen and Will Jackson, all of Oxford, MS.
We are grateful for the care provided to her by Graceful Swan Personal Care Home and Trinity Hospice in her last days, and to her caregivers in recent years, Ms. Sharon Flanagan and Ms. Kim Bryant.
A memorial service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held on Saturday, May 22nd , 2:00pm, at the First Baptist Church of Mobile, Admiral Semmes Chapel, 804 Government Street, Mobile, AL, 36602.
