Catherine Mendum Douglas, age 96, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022. Catherine was born September 16, 1925 in Silver Spring, MD, and lived in Bloomfield, NJ for many years before moving to Atlanta. Catherine was a devoted wife to her husband James for over 65 years, and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Catherine graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Major in Dance. She had a passion for traveling and enjoyed square dancing in all 50 states and internationally. Catherine worked as an Executive Assistant in the President's office of Montclair State College in Montclair, NJ for many years. She continued to work until she was in her early 60s. She also devoted many hours to the League of Women Voters. Catherine left a legacy of love for many to cherish.
Catherine is survived by her sons, Duncan Douglas and wife Laurie, John Douglas and wife Sharon, grandsons Evan Douglas, Matthew Douglas and Andrew Douglas, and her great granddaughter Ella Rose Douglas.
Catherine was preceded in death by her loving husband James Douglas, her brother Joseph Mendum, and her sister Margaret Field.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, March 28th at 10:30 am at Buckhead Church, 3336 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any gifts made in sympathy and remembrance of Catherine be made through a donation in her name to United Way of Greater Atlanta.
