Cheung Wun Chan

Cheung Wun Chan, affectionately known as ‘Paul’ to many, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the age of 77 after a brief illness. He was born on Monday, June 27, 1949, in Hong Kong, then part of the British Crown Colonies. He was the proud son of his father, Mon Wong, and mother, Yip Chiu Chan.

Cheung Wun was raised in Hong Kong but as a young adult in his early 20’s he migrated West to the Americas; first to Columbia, South America, then later he came North to the United States where he made his home in New Jersey and Florida before finally retiring and spending his final years as a resident of Woodstock, Georgia where he lived with his daughter and her family.

Cheung Wun was an entrepreneur and successful restaurant owner specializing in Chinese Cuisine. He was also a gifted artist with an Asian flair to his designs, and in his free time enjoyed wood carving, sculpting, and food art.

Cheung Wun was a dedicated Buddhist disciple. He spent a great deal of time through the years studying, praying, and writing. He was well respected and sought out as a mentor, spiritual guide, and friend to many who valued his knowledge.

Cheung Wun’s family was his pride and joy. His love and support for them was unconditional. He is survived by one daughter, Kimnie Chan Bennett (Drew) and one son, Wanyett Chan (Jillian); four grandchildren, Travis Kriplean, Connor Bennett, Kiana Bennett, and Rowan Chan; four brothers, Jeff Wong, Dan Wong, Erwin Wong, and Tim Wong. He is also survived by Delia Tang Chan, the former wife and mother of his children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mon Wong and Yip Chiu Chan.

He is well loved and missed by family and friends alike. A private ceremony honoring the life of Cheung Wun Chan will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Winkenhofer Funeral Home, Kennesaw, Georgia.
