Christopher A. Lake, Jr., age 77 of Kennesaw, GA. passed on October 12, 2012. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Christ Episcopal Church in Kennesaw. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 16, 2012 from 4pm until 8pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw.
Born to the late Christopher A. Lake, Sr. and Ruby Lake, in Harlem on February 13, 1935, where he resided for the first twenty-six years of his life. He feels that his youth, though he grew up at a time when there were many problems with young people, was relatively normal, achieving good grades in school. However, he occasionally caused his parents some grief, because of fighting in school. As a result, his parents transferred him to parochial School until he graduated from high school. He was the youngest, having two sisters and an older brother.
Chris began working for the US. Postal Service, got married, and moved to Brooklyn, eventually buying a home there, and having his son Kevin. During his career in the Postal Service, he began as a clerk, worked his way up through many positions and retired as Plant and Equipment Manager.
While living in Brooklyn, he began doing handy man services and transportation for the elderly in need. He was a member of the Church of the Ascension, were he was Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee; Treasurer of the Youth Commission and former Vice President. Chris also worked part time with the Parks and Recreations Department, in the Homebound Food Delivery program.
When Chris became ill in NY. he moved to Georgia to be closer to his family and his former wife who cared for him.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents; Christopher and Ruby Lake, brother; Kenneth Lake, sister; Sylvia Irving.
He is survived by his son; Kevin and wife Hae Lake, former wife; Verona Lake, grandchildren; Kayla and Myles Lake, sister; Thelma Antonio, and many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and cousins.
