Darius Reed Dixon, age 88, died on May 29, 2020 in Augusta, Georgia. He was born on June 5, 1931 in Abingdon, Virginia, to the late Floyd Dixon and Nora Counts Dixon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Dixon.
Darius was a hardworking man. He worked at Lockheed Martin for 44 years as an Aircraft Mechanic. His coworkers gave him the special nickname of “Peanut”. Darius loved the outdoors, he enjoyed anything that had to do with being outside. He loved to hunt and he also loved to work on planes. Darius was a family man, and he would always put them above all else. He was a jokester, he loved to make other people happy and to see them laugh. Darius served honorably in the Air force, and was a member of the V.F.W. where he loved to be. Darius will be loved and missed by all that knew him.
Darius is survived by his wife of 15 years Barbara Dixon, his son; Eddie (Shannon) Dixon of Woodstock, GA; daughters, Debbie Moates of Woodstock, GA, Penny (Mike) Miller of Woodstock, GA; eleven wonderful grandchildren; and many other special family members and friends.
Due to the covid-19 pandemic there are no public services at this time. An inurnment will take place at a later date at the Georgia National Cemetery.
