David “Dave” Woityra of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026, following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Throughout his journey, his beloved wife Beverly was by his side caring for him with unwavering love.
Dave was born on September 4, 1944, in Hamtramck, Michigan, to the late Sara and Frank Woityra. Dave attended Thurston High School in Redford, Michigan, where he was an active member of the band, playing the clarinet and saxophone. He also had the opportunity to attend the prestigious Interlochen Arts Camp during several summers, nurturing his lifelong love of music.
After graduating from high school, Dave moved to Atlanta when his father’s work brought the family to Georgia. He briefly attended the Georgia Institute of Technology before beginning his career as a draftsman for the City of Atlanta. He later joined UPS where he built a long and distinguished career. Throughout his 35 years with UPS, Dave was recognized with numerous awards for his dedication and service, including membership in the UPS Circle of Honor. He proudly retired from UPS in 2002.
In April 1963, Dave went on a double date at The Varsity and, in a twist of fate, unexpectedly ended up leaving with Beverly. It was love at first sight. Dave and Beverly were married on December 21, 1963, beginning a beautiful marriage that would span 62 years.
Together, they welcomed their first child, Scott, and later grew their family through the adoption of Barbara, completing their family with Michael. Dave and Beverly shared a life filled with love, family, and countless memories. Over the years, they enjoyed golfing, participating in bowling leagues, and traveling throughout the world together.
Dave and Beverly were devoted members of Living Hope Church, where they were actively involved in the life of the church. Dave generously shared his time and talents through various ministries, including playing saxophone in the band and helping care for and maintain the church facilities.
Above all else, Dave cherished his family. He especially treasured his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as Pop Pop. He
will always be remembered for playing “Free Willy” in the pool, playing “monster” and chase, having robot battles, camping, and, most of all, for the unconditional love and joy he brought to them.
Along with his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his beloved son, Scott Woityra.
Dave is survived by his wife, Beverly Woityra; his children, Barbara and Michael (Carrie) Woityra; grandchildren, Austin (Brittany), Ava, Wheeler, and Claire Woityra; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Henley Woityra; daughter-in-law Stacey Woityra-Fuller; and his loyal dog, Miss Jill.
Dave leaves behind a legacy of love, family, music, friendship, and a lifetime of memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Living Hope Church, 3450 Stilesboro Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30152. A luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research in memory of Dave Woityra. https://give.michaeljfox.org
