Dianna Leigh McCoy, age 57, passed away on April 9, 2019 while in Augusta, Georgia during a hospitalization for a routine surgical procedure. She was born on November 12, 1961 in Savannah, Georgia to Michael and Blanche Kettmann.
As a young child with her father in the Air Force, the family was constantly jumping from military base to military base. Dianna moved to Kennesaw attending elementary school and soon found herself attending and graduating from North Cobb High School, in Acworth, GA class of 1979. Dianna grew up on Lake Wood Drive, Kennesaw, GA and meeting the one she would call her husband, who grew up on Lake Wood Drive, Acworth, GA. You can’t say it wasn’t meant to be. On June 9, 1979 she was married to her husband, Marcus McCoy, at Acworth First Baptist Church. They were married for 39yrs, just 2 months shy of 40yrs. They raised three wonderful children together. Family was very important to Dianna. She loved her children and adored her grandchildren. She always strived to keep the peace within her family. Dianna played a big role in teaching her 5 grandchildren in the first 4-5 years of their lives. She always enjoyed being there and having a hand in raising them. Dianna’s love for kids led her to wanting to minister the children at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church, where she was a member.
Dianna never met a stranger and would often talk to anyone she could have a conversation with. She would talk to everyone about anything. She was a very loving and affectionate person, and this was shown through all aspects of her life. She was also very strong-willed. Beating cancer was a trial that she was determined to overcome and with God she conquered it in November 2017. Dianna was a caring, dedicated, and selfless person who will be missed dearly by many.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Blanche Kettmann.
She is survived by her father, Michael Kettmann; husband, Marcus McCoy; sons, Chris (Jennifer) McCoy and Jeremy (Rachel) McCoy; daughter, Jennifer (Brandon) Adams; brother, Michael (Rebecca) Kettmann Jr.; sisters, Roxanne (James) Clements and Donna (Billy) Burns; and grandchildren, Katie McCoy, Jesse Adams, Addison McCoy, Dawson McCoy, and Bryson McCoy.
