

Donald “Don” Joseph Cool, age 81, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025. Don was born on June 4, 1944, in Pratt, Kansas to his loving parents Arthur & Agnes Cool, Don was a hardworking, loving, and humorous man who would do anything for anyone. He was known for his steadfast nature, joyful spirit, thoughtful heart, and deep compassion.
Don proudly served his country as a helicopter pilot in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal. Following his military service, he attended Georgia State University and earned his bachelor’s degree. Don went on to enjoy a long and successful career as an Aviation Insurance Underwriter with Phoenix Aviation, where he worked for more than 20 years before retiring.
Don shared 60 wonderful years with his best friend and the love of his life, Sharon Kelley Cool. Together, they raised two beloved sons, David and Matthew, whom Don cherished deeply. He enjoyed playing golf, spending time outdoors, and was an avid bird enthusiast. Athletic throughout his life, he found joy in running, basketball, and cross-country — but most of all, he treasured time spent studying his Bible and sharing Jesus Christ with those he loved.
A devoted member of Calvary Chapel in Woodstock, Georgia, for the past decade, Don and Sharon worshipped together faithfully. He participated in the men’s breakfasts and, alongside Sharon, hosted the “Together Group” each week. Don was always ready to lend a helping hand and serve others in any way he could.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Kelley Cool; sons, David Cool & wife Deanna and Matthew Cool; grandchildren, Hunter, Hayley, Hannah, and Caleb Cool; brothers, Larry Cool & wife Jenny and Dan Cool & wife Ava. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Agnes Cool, and his sister, Joan Cool.
A Visitation for family and friends to gather will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine ridge Funeral Home at 2950 North Cobb Parkway, Kennesaw, GA 30152. A Funeral Service to Honor Don will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Calvary Chapel Woodstock 50 Shallowford Road, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Don will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA 30194 on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
