

Donald “Don” Edward Weems, a cherished resident of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 95. He was born on January 24, 1931, in Rome, Georgia, to Nelson and Clara Mae Weems.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge after four years of service. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career as an aircraft mechanic with Lockheed Martin, where he worked until his retirement.
Don was married to his best friend and the love of his life, Lydia Weems, for 55 wonderful years. Together, they shared a life rich with joy, faith, and adventure. Don had a passion for working on cars, especially antique models, and was an enthusiastic square dancer with the Square Dealers dance group in Cartersville. He enjoyed camping at Long Hollow Campground, traveling both domestically and abroad, cheering on the University of Georgia Bulldogs, and reading the morning paper.
Don and Lydia were faithful members of East Cobb Baptist Church, where they worshipped together for 13 years. He was known as a hardworking, loving, and honest man who maintained a close and personal relationship with God.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Lydia Weems; his son, Doug Weems; his stepson, Clyde Wilson; his brother, Tim Weems and his wife Rose; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Clara Mae Weems; his son, Barry Weems; his grandson, Craig Weems and his great-grandson, Braylen Weems.
A committal service with military honors will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, on February 5, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Don’s legacy of love, integrity, service, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
