

Doris Nell Barrett, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, in Hiram, Georgia, at the age of 95. A woman of boundless joy, deep faith, and enduring devotion to her family, Doris left a lasting impression of warmth and kindness on everyone she met.
Born on November 25, 1930, in Winder, Georgia, to the late Hollis Ben and Pearl Fleeman, Doris grew up with a vibrant spirit and a passion for life. In her youth, she was a dedicated athlete, playing basketball throughout high school at Osborne High School. Her infectious grin and uplifting personality earned her the perfect nickname, “Smiley” one that she carried proudly throughout her beautiful life.
Doris shared fifty seven wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, the late Edward C. Barrett, Sr., with whom she raised three sons. Charles Barrett Jr. Stephen and Bill. She balanced her dedication to her family with a successful career, working for many years as a Camera Room Technician at the Marietta Daily Journal until her retirement in 1995.
Doris was a cherished and thoughtful mother —steadfast, selfless, and deeply compassionate. known as an unbelievable cook, and unwavering in her support of family, never missing her son's games.
A woman of profound faith, Doris maintained a close, personal relationship with God. Her life was a testament to Christian service; she was a deeply active member of Fair Oaks United Methodist Church where she lovingly taught Sunday School and participated in Vacation Bible School for generations of children. She most recently attended Kennesaw Methodist Church. Her community ties extended into civic life as well, where she served with Edward, a proud and valued member of the VFW. She was an active member of the Oakridge Women’s Club.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith lives on through her family. She is survived by her two devoted sons, Stephen Reynard Barrett, and William Allen Barrett; and her brother Randall Fleeman; nine cherished grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren who brought immense joy to her later years.
Doris was reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Edward Charles Barrett, Sr., her parents, Hollis Ben and Pearl Fleeman, and her son Edward Charles Barrett Jr. who preceded her in death.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, Georgia.
A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the beautiful life of Doris Nell Barrett will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. Doris will be laid to rest next to her husband on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.
