Dorothy Elizabeth Connolly

Dorothy Elizabeth Connolly, age 97, of Acworth, Georgia, formerly of New Britain, Connecticut, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Dogwood Forest in Acworth. She was born to John Charles Connolly and Mary Josephine Dillon Connolly on August 20, 1918 in New Britain, Connecticut. She had a sister whom she was very close to, Kathryn. Dorothy resided with Kathryn and her family at their home and was like a second mother to her two nephews, David and James. She treated David and James' children as if they were her own grandchildren. Dorothy was a kind and incredible woman with a serving heart. She always put the needs of others before her own. She held various positions in her life long career with Stanley Works and most recently worked as a credit union clerk. Dorothy Elizabeth Connolly is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Connolly; sister, Kathryn Connolly Andrus; and her brother in law, Frank Andrus. Survivors include her nephews, David Andrus and his wife, D.J., of Acworth, Georgia and James Andrus and his wife, Joyce, of Eureka, Missouri; grandnephews, Sam Andrus of Acworth, Georgia; and grandnieces, Elizabeth Andrus and Jennifer Andrus both of Acworth, Georgia. Services will be held in New Britain, Connecticut under the care of Farrell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association.
