Mr. Eddy Ducarmel Alce, affectionately known as “Pops” to his dearest loved ones, was born in Saint-Marc, Haiti on July 9, 1946 to Saul Alce and Marie Antoinette Mortel Alce. Pops later moved to Brooklyn, New York where he met and married the love of his life, Marie Solange Almeda, “Toto”. Pops and Toto relocated to Marietta, GA in 1990 to raise their four children. On the weekends, Pops and Toto could be found perfecting their home garden.
Pops was known to have a joyous spirit and a gentle, kind heart. He retired from Cobb County Schools after 14 years of dedicated service. Pops was a family man who enjoyed quality time spent with his wife, children, nieces, and nephews. He especially enjoyed sharing stories about his youth in Haiti which included hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Pops adored his sweet wife Toto and took great pride in being an incredible example of a chivalrous husband. Among many things, Pops loved shrimp, cake, cookies, and most of all-- PEPPERMINT CANDY. He also loved karate, Haitian and country music, and soccer.
Pops peacefully exchanged his life for eternity on August 2, 2018 at his home in Marietta. Pops was preceded in death by his father, Saul Alce, and his sister, Joseline Legardere. Pops is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Toto; his mother, Antoinette; four loving children: Sandra (Alan), Emmanuel, Eddy, and Mike; four grandchildren: Fallon, Anderson, Carter, and Max; two brothers: Michel (Yvrose) and Gabriel (Denise); and a growing number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
