

Born in 1928, in Southampton Bermuda, Edna Oviedo passed away at the age of 88 on December 24, 2016 in Cartersville, Georgia. Edna is the daughter of the late Arthur Pimentel Mellow and Emily Edna Alves of Bermuda. Edna was raised in Southampton, Bermuda by Arthur and Melanie Mello, her step-mother, where she graduated high school and married Eugene Jose Oviedo. Together they moved to United States in 1949. Edna and Jose raised four children in Bergenfield, New Jersey: Arthur Eugene Oviedo, Donna Lynn Oviedo, Rodger Neil Oviedo, and Howard Carlton Oviedo.
Edna was a pre-school teacher for most of her life and loved children and her family.
Edna enjoyed the ocean, the sun, and being at the beach. She was always full of life and laughter and the cornerstone of the family. Edna had a smile that would light up the room along with a fiery spirit that would make you laugh until it hurt. She was known for her “Edna-isms”.
Edna is survived by her sons, Arthur Oviedo, Rodger Oviedo and former daughter-in-law Brenda Oviedo, Howard and wife Kimberly Oviedo, and son-in-law Richard Lucas. She was dearly loved by all of her sister and brother in laws and she was a favorite aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
Known as Grandma “O” and Granny, Edna’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy and her zest for life will live on through them. Edna is survived by her grandchildren Nathan and wife Noelle Pankratz and their children Lili and Raylan; Daniel and wife Susan Lucas and their children Alyssa, Sierra, and Olivia; Ryan Lucas; Taylor Oviedo; Garrett Oviedo and his daughter Mollie Fisher-Oviedo; Emilee Oviedo; Kendall Oviedo; Andrew Moe; Mollie Oviedo; and Sarah Moe.
Edna will be laid to rest near her daughter, Donna Lynn Lucas. Graveside services will be officiated by Father Nelson at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens in Brandon, Florida on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 1:00pm.
