Frances I. Skeeles passed away on September 8, 2025, at Solana of East Cobb in Marietta, GA after battling a lengthy illness. She was born to Paul and Daisy Gotshall on December 31, 1933, on the family farm in New Rumley, Ohio. After graduating from Scio High School in 1952, Fran attended the Canton Business School, began an administrative career, and married. She and her family moved to Richmond, Ohio where her children, Wiliam (Bill) H. Skeeles and Shirley E. Rupert were born and raised.
Fran was a woman of deep faith and an active member in her churches, the Richmond United Methodist Church in Ohio and later the Eastminster Presbyterian Church of Marietta, Georgia. In addition to raising and caring for her family, Fran had a long-time career in the banking industry and was the branch manager for the First National Bank of Steubenville Smithfield Branch prior to relocating to Georgia in 1982. Once in Georgia, Fran continued her career in banking as a Loan Originator for Decatur Federal Savings and Loan.
Outside of her career, Fran enjoyed dancing—ballroom, square, and round—as well as travelling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After moving to Georgia, she joined the Wheel Arounds and several ballroom dance clubs, earning a reputation for stylish costumes and always being among the best dressed at events. She traveled extensively, visiting forty-nine states and parts of Europe.
Fran demonstrated her love for her family by supporting them during difficult times, attending their events, hosting dinners, and making costumes and dresses for her grandchildren’s activities. She was loved and will be missed.
Frances Skeeles was predeceased by her parents, Paul, and Daisy Gotshall, as well as her five siblings and their spouses: Mary E. Gotshall, Doris Marie Gotshall, Leila June (John) Woods, John Oliver (Betty) Gotshall, and Paul Edward Gotshall. She is survived by her children, William H. (Mary) Skeeles and Shirley E. (Ed) Rupert, along with three grandchildren: Michael (Betheny) Rupert, Michelle (David) McGinnis) and Katie (Robert) Settles, eight great-grandchildren and several nephews, nieces and their children and spouses.
Local Funeral arrangements are being overseen by Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, Georgia. The funeral service will be on November 3, 2025, at the Richmond (Ohio) United Methodist Church, with interment to follow at Fort. Steuben Burial Estates.
The family would like to thank the staff at Capstone Hospice and Solana of East Cobb for the loving care and support they provided Frances while she was in their care.
