Franklin Junior Moffatt, aged 68, of Dallas, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Frank's life was a testament to the values of hard work, family, and a deep love for the outdoors. Frank was born in Cumberland, Maryland on October 10, 1955 to Franklin and Helen Moffatt. He spent most of his early years in Conway, Pennsylvania and Frank met his lifelong friend, Pat Toman, at Freedom Area High School. Their friendship blossomed into a beautiful love story. Not long after graduation in 1974, the two began dating and they eventually married on September 6, 1975. Frank was not just a devoted husband but also an amazing father to their children. Once, he successfully raised his children, he gained his favorite title, "Pap". His role as a family man was paramount, providing for his family to ensure that his wife could stay home with their children. His work was more than just to be provider, he was a railroader through and through.
For over four decades, Frank dedicated himself to the railroad starting with Penn Central Railroad in 1974. As time went on Penn Central became Conrail and then ultimately Norfolk Southern. His hard work and commitment continued until his well-deserved retirement in 2016 from Norfolk Southern. After retirement, Frank reveled in the simple joys of life. Frank had a knack for being a "jack of all trades, master of none." He was a true handyman, passionate about working with wood and building and tinkering in his beloved "big ugly" garage. He cherished spending time with his grandkids, fishing, hunting at his camp, and family vacations to the beach where lasting memories were created.
Frank's legacy is one of love and commitment. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia Moffatt, his children, Alana (David) Conatser and Keith Moffatt; his brother, David Moffatt; his grandkids, Avery, Isaiah, Mason, Skylar, Manning, Kaden, Maverick, Aaron, Ayden, and Ayda; and all who had the honor of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Agape Hospice Care in Frank's memory.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held at a later date.
The family invites everyone to share photos and memories on Frank's obituary page.
