Grace Hughes Cantrell, 96 of Kennesaw Georgia passed away on October 31, 2026 at Gaines Park Senior Living. Grace was born on November 9, 1929 in Marietta, Georgia to Albert and Georgia Hughes. Grace grew up in Kennesaw, GA in a house full of girls consisting of 6 sisters. She met her husband, J. C. Cantrell, through friends and they were married in 1950. They built a life together and were happily married for 52 years until J.C. passed away in 2002. Grace is survived by her two sisters, Linda Bryant and Sue Donahoo, her 3 children, James Cantrell (Holly), Debra Adair (Joe) and Joan Richardson, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Grace was a lovely and generous lady who never wanted to be in the spotlight. She enjoyed being a homemaker, baker, and floral designer. She was constantly sharing her gifts and talents with her friends and family. She was an active member of the Ladies Bible Study Fellowship, the Chapel Gongs, enjoyed her activities with the Red Hat Society, and in her early years she was an active member of the Eastern Star, Kennesaw Chapter 414. Her greatest joy came from sharing meals, traveling, and just spending time with her family. She loved any and all holidays and decorated her home for every occasion. Her grandchildren all remember the special character birthday cakes she made for them each year.
Her family has many wonderful memories of her as a faithful friend and her servants heart. Grace’s family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to the staff of Gaines Park Senior Living for their loving care of Grace for the past 9 years, to her church family of Greers Chapel Baptist Church, the medical staff of Ennoble Hospice and all the family and friends who have visited with Grace over the years.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
