April 6th, 1936 - January 21st, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Gusta Nell Fant of Acworth, GA. She joined our Heavenly Father on the evening of January 21st, 2025 at the age of 88. Now, after 35 years apart, she is joyfully reunited with her cherished husband, Harwell Lee Fant, in the eternal peace of Heaven.
Gusta, affectionately known to many as "MawMaw", was a shining example of love, kindness, and Christ-like compassion. MawMaw was a woman who made everyone feel seen and loved, offering unwavering support and encouragement to those around her. Her love knew no bounds, and she was not just a grandmother to her own, but a spiritual matriarch to many. She welcomed all with open arms and an open heart, living out the values of Christ in everything she did. Her kindness, wisdom, and faithfulness were a light to those who were lucky enough to know her. She made everyone feel valued, and her influence will be felt for years to come.
Her love for her family was evident in everything she did. She took great joy in seeing them grow and succeed, often bragging on them with immense pride. To MawMaw, family meant everything, and she celebrated each achievement, no matter how small, with a heart full of joy.
A devoted member of Acworth United Methodist Church, Gusta lived her faith with unwavering dedication. Her love for the Lord and her community was evident in everything she did, whether through quiet prayers or offering a helping hand. She embodied the spirit of the church with a heart full of grace, and her church family lovingly called her “Granny”, a nickname that reflected not only her role in her own family, but also her nurturing and loving impact on so many others. One of her greatest joys was chaperoning the youth group on choir tours. She found immense happiness in supporting the young people of the church, not just as a mentor and guide, but also as a source of laughter, encouragement, and love. The memories of those trips, and the joy she brought to them, will remain in the hearts of many for years to come.
Gusta is survived by her children: Tim Fant (Lesly), Tom Fant (Elvie), and Belinda Addison (Jason). She was a devoted grandmother to Nathan Fant (Lauren), Justin Fant (Grace), Casey Fant, Harlee Fant (Brandon), and Beka Fant. Her great-grandchildren, Alesea Nelson, Easton Nelson, Isaac Peace, Kaden Thomason, Henry Fant, Rose Fant, Vivian Fant, Mary Lee Fant, and Leilani Fant brought her much joy, along with her great-great-grandchildren, Maya Palermo, and Noah James Hollingsworth. She is also survived by her sisters, Donnis Cash Barefoot and Elwin Kay Cash
Gusta Nell Cash Fant was born in Rodentown, Alabama to parents, Pearley Cash and Loucyle Bryant Cash who preceded her in death. Gusta was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harwell Lee Fant, her son, James Andrew “Andy” Fant, and her great-grandson, Harper Daniel Fant. Gusta was also preceded in death by her sister, Modean Cash Roberson, and her brothers: J.W. Cash, Coleman D. Cash, John L. Cash, Hoyt A. Cash, Darryel Cash, and Allen Joe Cash.
Though we feel the weight of this loss, we take comfort in knowing that our Mother and MawMaw is now in the arms of her Savior, reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her. We look forward to the day we will see her again, and we know the memory of her will continue to guide and inspire us until that day comes. Her legacy of love, compassion, and Christ-like living will live on through her family and friends. We are forever grateful for the time we had with her and will carry her memory in our hearts forever.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home on Saturday February 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at 2950 N. Cobb Parkway, Kennesaw, GA 30152. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 PM and continue until service time.
