Guy Junior “Cotton” Turner, 84, of Kingston, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016. Funeral service is Friday, 2pm at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Acworth with Revs. Jimmy Rampley and Ray Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Rolling Hills Memory Gardens. Cotton will lie in state at the church beginning at 1pm. The family is receiving friends on Thursday between the hours of 11am – 2pm & 4-8pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery Fund at 3661 New McEver Rd Acworth, GA 30101.
Guy was a retired Fireman with Cobb County and a longtime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a 50 year Mason with Acworth Lodge #176 and Past Worshipful Master. Junior loved working around a farm, antique cars but most people will remember him as the buggy man. He had a blacksmith shop where he would restore horse buggies and build wheels for them and once owned a horse drawn hearse.
Survivors include his wife – Maye Ridings Turner of Kingston, daughters – Brenda Black of Kennesaw and Beth and husband Ed Finnegan of Acworth, brother – Ben Turner of Acworth, sister – Shirley Eldredge of Oregon, grandchildren – Travis, Joey &Ryan Moore, Daniel, Conner & Anna Finnegan, Krys West and Mike Finnegan. Great-grandchildren – Collin & Luke Moore, Jake, Nick , Luke & Kara West, Molly and Reid Finnegan and a host of extended family.
