

She was born to Daniel and Lillie Rosalee Summer on July 2, 1935 in Lexington, South Carolina. She later met and married Fred Wilbur Connelly and they became inseparable. They were married for 52 years and enjoyed acquiring a vast music collection together.
Mrs. Connelly was a long time member of First united Lutheran Church for over 30 years. She loved tending to her garden, especially her irises and lilies, and also enjoyed sewing and quilting. She would share her talents of quilting with gifts to her grandchildren. She also managed to fill the entire church full of quilts to assemble and ship all over the world for the Lutheran World Relief organization.
Mrs. Connelly is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Fred Connelly; parents, Daniel and Lillie Rosalee Summer; brothers, Benny Lee Summer and Robert Summer; sister, Irene Smith and her husband, Edward Smith; and brother-in-laws, Jeff Shealy and Doug Stamps. Survivors include her son, Randy Connelly and his wife, Gale, of Talking Rock; daughter, Diane Samples and her husband, Michael, of Kennesaw; brother, Johnny Summer and his wife, Annis, of South Carolina; sisters, Elizabeth Clamp and her husband, Herbert, Brenda Shealy, and Wanda Stamps all of South Carolina; grandchildren, Heather Beascoechea and her husband, Damian, of Cary, North Carolina, Victoria Kennedy and her husband, Kris, of Kennesaw, Nathan Connelly and his wife, Aileen, of Acworth, Kristin Winter and her husband, Yann, of New Jersey, Brandon Samples and his wife, Lisa, of Acworth, Trey Samples of Kennesaw, and Lindsay Samples of Kennesaw; and great-grandchildren, Duncan Kennedy, Lily Kennedy, Adara Connelly, Olen Connelly, Liam Samples, and Taylor Samples.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw. Funeral Services will be held at First United Lutheran Church in Kennesaw on Monday at 2:00 pm. A gathering will be held at the church following services. Burial will conclude at Pine Ridge Memorial Park in Kennesaw.
